Rhodes 19 One Design Fleet
Overview
The Southport Yacht Club recognizes the value of one design racing and has decided to introduce a one design series for the Rhodes 19 Class. Below you will find a description of the racing as well as the schedule for the entire series.
The Types of Races
Rhodes 19 Season Series
A combination of open and trophy races that will be scored in a one design format. Awards ceremony TBD.
Friday Open Races
Friday races are designed for all ages, friends and family. This is a great chance for those experienced Rhodes sailors to hop in a boat with someone who would love some tips. These will start from the Cedarbush nun and will consist of round the buoys. Fun awards and beverages at SYC to follow.
Post Race Debriefs
These will be a BYOB event held at the yacht club. The winner for the day will be expected to informally discuss what they did and how they did it. In the event that racing is held outside of the Sheepscot, debriefs will be determined based on weather and the end of racing that day.
Awards
Boats will be scored in a one design format. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishes for each series and first and second for the summer overall series winner. Prizes for the July series will be awarded at the following SYC social event following the July 25th event at BHYC. The August series will be presented at the commodores closing reception (Covid protocols pending)
