SEGUIN ISLAND TROPHY RACE - Saturday July 25, 2020

The Seguin Island Trophy Race is returning to its roots as a distance race this year - out to Seguin and back!  SYC invites families with racing, cruising or one-design boats over 15’ to join us for this pursuit race on July 25, 2020. Racing will start near Cedarbush nun and feature an easy-to-navigate course around government marks & islands on the Sheepscot River.  As many SYC racers saw last weekend, the Pursuit Race format is user-friendly and eliminates the crowded starting line. Handicaps are built into start times, with slower boats starting first and faster boats' starts delayed. With staggered starts, most boats get their own start at an assigned time (confirmed on the VHF) and off they go. For one-design classes such as the Rhodes 19, the pursuit format offers a “race within a race.” The winner of the race is the first to cross the finish line!  We will run two starts and two courses, with a longer course for bigger boats starting at 11:00 and a shorter course starting at 12:00. Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions will be posted on the SYC website by July 18th.  Advance registration is required by midnight on Wednesday, July 22nd, so the Race Committee can calculate start times.  Start times will be emailed to racers by 0800 Saturday morning and posted on the SYC website.  Here is the link for the 2020 Seguin Island Race Registration: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1zEg8qsCW6ZOyJKI15YdW8fXDo_WTSGhoyJjVPSPsDFs/edit
